BC Day Like You’ve Never Heard or Seen

Call us a bit biased, but we think there’s no better place in British Columbia to celebrate the BC Day long weekend than here in the Capital City of Victoria. The area is teeming with small and large events alike. From farmer’s markets, to concerts in the park, there’s something to do and see every day in the first weekend of August.

But none as close as the Ship Point Night Market and Symphony Splash.

Just over a block away, along the water’s edge, the Night Market’s eclectic mix of vendors and entertainment is quite a sight. This season, close to 75 vendors will be selling their crafts on the pier in the heart of the Inner Harbour. The market showcases original art, high-quality handcrafted jewelry, soaps, souvenirs and more. Live music keeps the evening gently rolling, with musicians playing everything from classical to rock in an acoustic setting.

But the gathering of the summer is Symphony Splash. The annual Victoria Symphony Splash is a spectacular event that sees Victoria’s beautiful Inner Harbour transformed into an outdoor concert stage.

Symphony Splash is the largest annual outdoor symphony event in Canada, attracting up to 40,000 Victoria residents and visitors. It includes musical entertainment, food, souvenirs and the evening’s highlight: a live performance by the Victoria Symphony. The concert concludes with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, complete with bells, cannons, and fireworks.
And you can enjoy the sights of sounds within the safe, comfortable confines of your outdoor deck at The Regent: no crowds, no hassles, just beautiful music and fireworks with a glass of wine in hand.
