Fun on Family Day in Victoria

The Family Day long weekend is fast approaching, and Victoria is a treasure trove of activities for the whole family. This year’s Family Day takes place on Monday (February 21), but many things are happening over the weekend. Not sure what to get up to with the entire brood? Here are just a few things to do around town on Family Day this year.

One of the top things to do in Victoria, B.C. with kids is to visit The Royal BC Museum. Popular galleries for children include the Human History Gallery and extensive First Peoples’ and natural history exhibitions. Have a look at the Kids and Families Events schedule, as they often have some fun activities for kids – and don’t forget the IMAX Theater.

A favorite for kids of all ages and just a short walk from the Victoria Inner Harbour is the wonderful Beacon Hill Park and Children’s Farm. Try to visit at the opening so as not to miss the running of the goats at 10:10 AM. Be sure to bring a picnic, and enjoy the many gardens, ducks, and especially the dozens of peacocks showing off their beautiful feathers.

Many kids (and a few adults as well) are fascinated by insects so be sure to visit Victoria’s  Bug Zoo. This unique zoo gives children the opportunity to view and experience multi-legged creatures from around the world in a safe and fun environment.

Other Victoria family favorites include Miniature World, the Victoria Board Game Café and who could resist the Victoria Old Fashioned Candy Shop, and so many more.

With so much to do with the kids, plan on staying with Victoria Regent over the Family Day weekend. Our spacious suites, with full kitchens and many amenities, are within easy walking distance of many attractions, and a perfect home-base for a family weekend getaway.
