Get in the Holiday Spirit this December

If you need a little help getting into the Holiday Spirit, look no further than the Capital City. For the month of December there are countless holiday events happening, from live music and performaces to light shows and markets.

Here are just a few ideas for this Holiday season:

• Dec 1 – Jan 6: Magic of Christmas at Butchart Gardens. This might not be downtown but it sure is worth the drive. The famous Butchart Gardens are lit up with an interpretation of the “12 Days of Christmas” with an outdoor skating rink to top it all off.
• Dec 1 – 31: Christmas at Craigdarroch Castle. Located nearby in Rockland, the historic castle is set up with holiday displays reflecting the time period.
• Dec 5: Head to the parliament buildings to see them officially light up for the holidays followed by festive performances!
• Dec 13 – 30: A new one for Victoria, Centennial Square is getting all dressed up for Lights of Wonder featuring multiple light displays, light tunnels, live entertainment, and more.

Holiday markets are also aplenty including the Christmas Night Market at the Public Market until 8pm on Thursdays. Of course, walking Government Street is a festive activity in itself with the way it’s lit up. Our scenic downtown gets that extra little sparkle!
