Ghost of Victoria Festival
It’s that spooky time of the year! Victoria, BC, has a long and storied history with all things supernatural, and so it should come as no surprise that the haunted month of October is one of the best times to visit this charming and wonderful city.
The Victoria Regent makes for an excellent base of operations while here, and you’ll discover that we are preternaturally unmatched when it comes to our terrifyingly amazing combination of outstanding service, stellar amenities, frighteningly convenient location along the stunning Inner Harbour, and world-class comfortable accommodations.
First, there’s venerable Bay Cemetery, which is open every day during daylight hours. Ross Bay is a hauntingly beautiful ocean side Victorian cemetery where phantoms are purported to roam. History tours by the Old Cemeteries Society take place every Sunday at 2:00 pm.
Ghostly Walks explores the eerie alleys and courtyards of historic downtown Victoria. These extraordinarily popular 90-minute walks happen every night throughout September and October.
The Original Ghost Bus-tours have been a perennial favourite at Halloween time for twenty years. These two-hour-long haunted coach tours are conducted by ghost expert John Adams for the Old Cemeteries Society, and pass by the city’s spookiest places, which also includes a stop to search for the world-famous Golf Course Ghost. Please note that advance reservations are required.
Victoria Carriage Tours operates daily through September and October, and during the weeks leading up to Halloween, carriage drivers will tell you creepy and entertaining ghost stories in addition to their regular captivating commentary.
Finally, Oak Bay takes on a particular look around Halloween. Their Pumpkin Art on the Avenue features around five hundred uniquely carved and crafted pumpkins, all of which are displayed behind the Oak Bay Municipal Hall, 2167 Oak Bay Avenue. Yet another awesome time for the family—especially little ones!
There’s no place quite like Victoria during Halloween, in Canada or anywhere else in the world.
