May is MS Awareness Month

The Victoria Regent is proud to be part of an active and caring Victoria community. May is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness month, and Victoria is one of the many communities that regularly hosts events to raise awareness and much needed research dollars to combat the disease.

On May 3 the Victoria Scotiabank hosts their MS Walk. With the event in a more central location, more participants – including those staying at The Victoria Regent – can join the fight to end Multiple Sclerosis.

As always, the event is accessible to everyone, including those using wheelchairs, scooters or strollers. There are fabulous prizes such as gift cards to some of your favorite places to shop, a great event t-shirt, and lunch and entertainment on event day. There are 3 km, 6 km, and 9 km routes to choose, and at its conclusion you can enjoy live music and delicious food.

If you’re feeling more competitive, there is The Fort Street Cycle Beginner Triathlon for MS. Competitors still participate in bike, run and swim events, but on a more manageable level.   All proceeds will go to MS research.

Then on May 8 and 9, the MS Society’s Carnation Campaign will be in full bloom with canvassers taking donations from the public and handing them carnations in return. It’s one of the ways you can feel part of our greater community during your visit.
