Step Into History
Victoria is a walking town. There are few things better, or more economical, than with coffee in hand, strolling and seeing some of the city’s rich history by foot.
Here at The Victoria Regent we are ideally situated. We are centrally located in the city with onsite parking, and just steps away from Old Towne, Chinatown, and of course the heritage shopping district along Government Street.
We are in touch with some great historians that have put together some of the most fascinating historic tours of the city which get a big push in the fall.
Chinatown Walks takes place every Saturday and follow in the footsteps of gold miners, merchants, labourers and revolutionaries along Chinatown’s main streets and then weave into Fan Tan Alley (the city’s most infamous thoroughfare).
Discovery Walks take place every Saturday and Sunday and could feature anything from a tour of famous Rockland Mansions, history of Rum Runners and Smugglers, or a look into Emily Carr’s Victoria.
Especially popular in the fall are the now famous Ghostly Walks conducted every night right up until Halloween and feature a selection of the more than 500 five hundred tales of ghostly encounters in Victoria.
So, lace up your shoes, step out of our front doors and into the history of Victoria!
