Victoria’s Summer Symphony

Canada Day may draw the largest crowds to downtown Victoria, but it’s Symphony Splash that has people staking claim to their seats a day in advance, chaining chairs to public handrails and railings anywhere with a great view of the Inner Harbour.

It’s easy to see why, but it’s even easier to see why.

One night each year, the hustle and bustle of British Columbia’s capital shifts from the comings and goings of visitors to the Inner Harbour boardwalk to a grandiose symphonic event, a full symphony performing a selection of pieces from the middle of the harbour itself. There are cannons for the 1812 Overture – and one year, they even played the main theme from Star Wars!

We don’t know yet what the Victoria Symphony will be playing this year, but we do know that it will be an incredibly special evening this July 31st that begins with song and ends with fireworks, all happening just down the street from us.

Perhaps the biggest event of the year in Victoria’s Inner Harbour is also one of its most beautiful.
